Who is Edson Pindza?
From a young age, it was obvious Edson was passionate about numbers. While other children spent time playing outside, he preferred to solve mathematical puzzles and problems.
So, it was no surprise when he decided to study Mathematics and Physics at the University of Science and Technology of Masuku in Gabon. It was at the university he discovered a passion to help young Africans.
In 2001, he started teaching high school students, mathematics. He wanted them to see Mathematics not as a difficult subject but as a way of thinking logically. He showed them the meaning of Shakuntala Devi's words "Without mathematics, there's nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers". When his students started succeeding in the subject, Edson knew he had found his passion.
In his words “Studying mathematics and physics was incredibly tough, but it taught me how to think methodically and logically. I saw it as an opportunity to empower African youngsters through the teaching and the promotion of these subjects.”More
